Swimming Sports

I woke up sun was shining on my face and my heart started racing because it was Swimming Sports, I was so excited that all I did was have breakfast and get changed, I didn’t evcn make my lunch.
Before the race began, the strokes were freestyle,  backstroke and breaststroke for the 10 year old girls.  I was so nervous that it felt like I was going to puke.

The race began, I dived fingertips first then head then all the rest of my body.  I could hear the splash of the water, that let me knew that all the racers had taken off, I could see the sun shining on the bottom of the pool that meant I was halfway through my race. I was thinking I was going to come last but I came second in freestyle. I was pleased with myself that I came second.

My next race was about to begin. The teachers lined us up in our lanes, Then I hear the whistle blow I took off like a jet, so fast that I forgot that we were doing breaststroke not backstroke. I must of gotten the words mixed around!

My last race which was backstroke. I was so nervous that I felt light headed  but I did the race anyway. So I lined up shook my hand side to side and I did the same to my legs. I must of not heard our teachers say on your marks, get set and go I must of been day dreaming, so I took off and felt quite a bit embarrassed because everyone was watching me.
After I finished all the 10 year old girl races so I had to wait for the last races which was The Ball relay, The Flying squadron (which is the four fastest), and then there was the parent and student relay. The parent and student relay is when you get all the year 7 and 8 have to go up against the parents and guess who won? The parents, well no surprise there, of course they would win.

The day came to an end, Vanessa led all the children with a prayer for the end of the day. I was really tired that the teachers made all the children walk back to school. After all that racing we deserved a treat! Well, I felt happy at the end of the day and so I went home and had a long hot shower.

Swimming Sports 2013

Last Wednesday, the children from St Paul's Catholic School had their annual swimming sports in Ngaruawahia.

When our school got to the pools, we got changed and sat on the hard, brown benches.

While sitting on the benches, we sang out  our chants and then we began Swimming.

First we did the medley. The medley is when you do butterfly, backstroke, breast stroke and free style, all in one race.

After we did the medley, we did the freestyle lengths, 100 meters. While doing the free- style my heart made a pounding sound and made me a bit nervous.  After we did the100 meters freestyle, we did backstroke. While doing backstroke, it seemed as though I was going to came last.

What a great day!

Waka Ama in Rotorua

On Saturday my Nana and I went to Lake Tikitapu in Rotorua.
In the morning, my Nana and I had to wake up at quarter to five.
When I woke up, I wanted to stay in bed, but Nana said, "Get up, lazy, or you will be late for your races," but I said, "I don't want to get up."
Next, we took off in our big car and zoomed off to Rotorua .
When we got there, we played on the playground with my friends. We played on the spinning thing, then the races started and we were first to do our races. We did the 250 metres and the 500 metres.

Tabloid Sports

On Friday, our school did Tabloid Sports on the field.First, we went outside and did the Skis. On the skis, people had to work together to get across the imaginary blue river. The imaginary blue river moved with big waves and sounded like a splish and a splash sound. When Deena took the last group, we won ten points. People moved fast to get across, so that they would win. When we won, the other team said we were good, and we said thank you for saying that. After that, we only had to use one of the skis, and Deena said that would be hard.
Finally, our group, Number Three, did the Bucket and Sponge. When we got the sponge, we had to pass it up and down and, whoever got the most water, won ten points. It was fun because, when we passed it, we got wet. We got soaked when we passed the sponge. Nikita said she was going to be in the front and Matthew was at the back to chuck the sponge to Nikita. When Matthew chucked the sponge, Nikita got soaked and said I don’t want to do this any more because she got tired and so did I. It sounded squishy. It moved sluggishly.
I felt tired, but it was a fun day.

ATHLETICS DAY

It was a warm sunny day at St Paul's School and it was Athletics Day.
When it was 9.30, everyone had to line up on the green tiger turf court. There was a big grey fence that was surrounding the tiger turf court. The houses were St Anthony blue, St Anne yellow,St Francis green and St Joseph red.
First, the 9 year old girls did Vortex.
Next,we did long jump. The sand felt soft and sandy. BAM!!!!! I landed on my two feet and my score was 3.6 metres. On my next go, I got 3.7 metres and, on my last go, I got 5.6. I felt good and brilliant and great because 5.6 metres was my best.

Finally, it was sprints. We did the 80m first, then we did the 100m, then the great, the whizz, the wonderful 200m!!!!!! I didn’t want to do sprints, but I had to do it anyway, then it was the A and B finals. I felt nervous because I’m not used to doing sprints and, this time, I came 2nd and 3rd. I was in the A and B finals in sprints.

It was a fun day, but I was very tired when I got home from school that afternoon.
